Capstone Essays
Below you will find three essays that I wrote for ED 870, my Capstone Seminar. These three essays reflect on my earlier goals in the program, my future as a learner, and an overall analysis of what I have learned during these three years in the MAED program.
Goals Reflection Essay
This essay provided me an opportunity to look back over my studies and work in the MAED program and reflect on what I've learned over the last three years. It also made me analyze how my thinking or beliefs have changed since beginning my master’s program. This goals reflection assignment made me reflect back on my original goal statement that I wrote back in June 2010 and it let me see how far I have come since then. Future As a Learner Essay
This essay provided me an opportunity to plan for my future as a learner. As a teacher and athletic director it is vital for me to continue learning and always be on top of the latest and greatest information. I knew that when I became a teacher, I signed up for
learning throughout my career, but going through the program really made me
realize the importance of it. Education
is an ever changing field that always has a new technique, a new piece of
technology, or a new strategy for you to try.
As a teacher it is my responsibility to be informed about these new
techniques so I can make a positive impact on my learning community and myself. Please click on the picture to the left or the button below to read my Future As a Learner Essay.
Synthesis Essay
This essay provided me an opportunity to focus on the key courses in the MAED program that really made a difference in my learning over the last three years and have impacted me the most. It was a hard decision to only focus on three to four courses because, honestly, each class I have taken in the MAED program has made an impact on my teaching style, knowledge, and overall confidence. The classes I chose to focus on included: KIN 854, Legal and Administrative Issues of Coaching, KIN 857, Promoting Positive Youth Development in Sport, EAD 801, Leadership and Organizational Development, and EAD 824, Leading Teacher Learning . I chose these classes because each of them let me create new materials, resource, and programs that I have directly implement into my current athletics program. These key pieces have transformed my athletics program for the better and have made an impact on myself, the parents, the athletes and my coaches.
